SPMAFI Elections for a New Board of Trustees
The SPMAFI Election Committee (ELECOM) composed of distinguished alumni Agnes Devanadera, Wilhelmina Dilag, Marichen Dychangco and Oliver Rodriguez was convened in a joint meeting with the SPMAFI Board last October 21, 2024 for a briefing on the election process and official turnover of management oversight over the 2025 SPMAFI Elections for a new Board of Trustees.
Pursuant to the directives of the SPMAFI ELECOM, the SPMAFI Board is pleased to make the following announcements in connection to the conduct of the 2025 elections :
▪ Period for nominating candidates for election to the SPMAFI Board has been extended to November 15, 2024, to allow more time for alumni members to submit their nominations and for nominated candidates to confirm in writing their acceptance of their nomination and willingness to serve as Trustee on the SPMAFI Board for a 3-year term beginning January 26, 2025.
As previously advised, nominations may be submitted via email thru SPMAFI’s official email address ([email protected]) or Facebook Messenger account addressed to Ruby Abasolo (SPMAFI Auditor and Membership Committee Chair) providing the names, alumni batches and contact details of nominees so that we can validate their membership in good standing and confirm their acceptance and willingness to serve if elected.
▪ The online voting platform to be used for the 2025 SPMAFI Hybrid elections, shall undergo a live test run within the first week of December, 2024 under the auspices of the SPMAFI ELECOM to ensure that the website based voting system has been debugged and to validate the accuracy and integrity of results generated by the online
voting application being created for the SPMAFI Website.
The final schedule, participants and remote venues for this live test run will be announced as soon as logistical arrangements have been made by end November, 2024.
▪ The official list of candidates running in the 2025 SPMAFI Board Elections shall be published by December 10, 2024 in the SPMAFI Website together with their brief profiles after the online voting platform live test run for the information and guidance of all alumni members who wish to know the candidates and their qualifications.
▪ The election procedures online and in person shall also be published in the website a full month before the start of the voting process so that alumni voters can familiarize themselves with the process and decide on either option to cast their vote online or in person during the set voting period:
✓ Online Voting to start January 10 – 25, 2025 on the SPMAFI Website
✓ In Person Voting may be done during Homecoming Day January 26, 2025
- Final tally of votes will be reviewed and validated by the ELECOM and announced during the 2025 Homecoming Program and a ceremonial turnover of responsibility to the newly elected SPMAFI Board of Trustees shall be done right after voting results are announced.
All alumni are encouraged to actively participate in the 2025 SPMAFI Election process which is a historic milestone in the history of the SPMAFI Foundation because for the first time our alumni members are being given the option to vote online or in person in accordance with SEC guidelines and ratify the amendments to the SPMAFI ByLaws that
will make this standard practice.
The ultimate objective of hybrid elections is to democratize the SPMAFI election process and allow broader participation in choosing SPMAFI Board leadership and deciding the future of our alumni community.
