SPMAFI President’s Letter to Alumni

Posted on October 05, 2022

To my Fellow Paulinians:

I write you on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the St. Paul Manila Alumni Foundation (SPMAFI) recently elected to serve for a 3-year term (2022-2024) and which I am privileged to head as President (please go to https://spmafi.org/about-spmafi/ for the list of SPMAFI Board of Trustees and Officers).

Over the past couple of months since we assumed office the Board has been busy with organizational matters and just finished laying down SPMAFI’s mission and vision statements as well as strategic objectives for the next 3 years which I am pleased to share with our alumni.

The gist of SPMAFI’s Vision and Mission as defined is focused on sustaining lifelong connections among our worldwide community of St. Paul Manila (SPM) alumni and providing opportunities for meaningful engagement with our Alma Mater and with each other while ensuring that the Paulinian spirit of Caritas Christi Urget Nos continues to inspire us and the legacy of our Paulinian education remains relevant and vibrant now and in the future.

Key to achieving this mission and vision will of course be the unstinting support and active involvement of our alumni members, many of whom SPMAFI has lost track of since they graduated and participation of the few who are able to connect with is largely limited attendance in alumni homecomings. Hence, as a priority project of the new SPMAFI Board, we are embarking on a campaign to reach out and reconnect with all SPM alumni by requesting them to reactivate their membership in SPMAFI as follows:

Update your information by filling out the membership form (https://spmafi.org/membership/join/)
with updated information on the following:
1. Educational Attainment (in St. Paul and other schools)
2. Personal Data (Civil status, Birthday)
3. Professional affiliations / areas of interest / Employment info
4. Contact info (i.e. Residence address, Email, Mobile/Landline Number

This is required to update our Alumni Database / Directory and allow SPMAFI to communicate with you, and invite you to participate in planned alumni activities and projects. Rest assured that the info you provide will be kept private and confidential. And will be used only for this purpose.

Pay your Annual or Lifetime Alumni Membership Fees to become a member in good standing based on the following rates:
1. Annual Membership Fee is PHP 500 (if paid thru our website’s payment gateways) or US
$10. Direct bank payment is PHP 600.
2. Lifetime Membership Fee is PHP 6,000 (if paid thru our website’s payment gateways) or US
$120. Direct bank payment is PHP 7,500.

You may deposit your alumni fee payments to the following SPMAFI bank accounts:

For Peso Payments:

BDO Savings Account # 001398035649
BDO Pedro Gil Adriatico Branch
Account Name: St. Paul Manila Alumni Foundation Inc.

For USD Payments:

BDO Dollar Account # 103530070755
BDO Pedro Gil Adriatico Branch
Account Name : St. Paul Manila Alumni Foundation Inc.

Please send an electronic or photocopy of the deposit slip to SPMAFI email address ([email protected] so we can track your alumni fee payment and issue you a corresponding official receipt.

I would like to appeal to all alumni to opt to pay the Lifetime Membership Fee (versus the annual fee) since this should be affordable for most of you and less administratively cumbersome to manage and collect for SPMAFI  on a year-to-year basis.

The COVID Pandemic situation over the past 2 years has severely depleted SPMAFI’s funds because we were unable to collect any alumni fees over this period because we could not hold our usual homecoming event gatherings and alumni fees contributed by the graduates at St. Paul Manila have significantly declined due lower enrollment numbers at our Alma Mater in recent years.

It is imperative therefore that this SPMAFI call for the reactivation of your alumni membership be widely disseminated and receive a positive response from all of you if we are to sustain our efforts to build lifelong connections within our global alumni community and instill pride, participation, and philanthropic support and investment among Paulinans in the future of our Alma Mater.

Looking forward to your prompt and favorable response.

Patricia “Ricki” Arches- SPMAFI President, HS Class “70 Batch
